Weight Studies of large groups of patients have shown that one year after surgery, patients lose 77% of their excess weight on average. In the case of a patient who is 50 kg overweight, this implies a weight loss of 38 kg after 1 year. After 10 years, there is still an average loss of 60% of the excess weight. This is largely to do with the fact that the eating habits of the patients can vary a great deal from one individual to another. Co-morbidities More than 90% of co-morbidities (disorders resulting from obesity) disappear or improve thanks to this operation, such as high blood pressure, type II diabetes, back pain, sleep apnea, depression, and so on.
